Offa's Dyke Path - 20 Days & 19 Nights

  • The Offa's Dyke Path, a classic British long-distance walk and a National Trail
  • Unspoiled landscapes of the Clwyd Hills, the Welsh Marches and Black Mountains
  • An ancient earthwork built by King Offa which marks the Welsh-English border
  • Hillforts, norman castles, ruined monasteries that weave a rich historical tapestry
  • Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty such as the Wye Valley and Shropshire Hills
The Offa’s Dyke Path National Trail criss-crosses back and forth along the Anglo-Welsh border, stretching from North to South Wales, passing through no less than three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Built as a defensive barrier in the 8th century by King Offa to divide Mercia from rival kingdoms, this is undeniably a National Trail to cross off your bucket list. In the 12th century, it became the warring border between the Norman Conquerors and Welsh nobles, who built a string of mighty castles along its length. The history along the dyke is immense with many monastic ruins and superb iron age hillforts en route. Enjoy walking on a ridge through the Black Mountains, to the top of Moel Famau, the highest hill in the Clwydian Range and through the rolling landscapes of the Welsh Marches and Shropshire Hills. This long-distance route has it all.
