Cotswolds Highlight - Things to do in Bath

Visiting Bath has always been on my bucket list and I am pleased to say I can now tick it off the list and it certainly didn't disappoint. Having spent a week in the beautiful Cotswolds countryside finishing in Bath definitely allowed me to finish my trip on a high. There is so much to see and do that I would recommend booking at least 2 nights here because one afternoon simply isn't enough. So, if you are wondering what to do in Bath, here are my top attractions:

The Roman Baths

Lying in the centre of the city the Roman Baths were constructed around 70 AD as a grand bathing complex. It is now one of the best preserved Roman remains in the world and is extremely impressive. 1,170,000 litres of spring water reaching 46 °C still fill the baths every day. You pick up an audio guide and listen to fascinating commentary as you slowly make your way around the site as the Romans did 2,000 years ago.  roman-bath5 Roman Baths[/caption]

Therme Bath Spa Rooftop

If you want a completely relaxing experience and have a few hours to pamper yourself then this is a must. This is a very popular day spa where you can bathe in the warm, natural mineral-rich waters and choose from a range of spa treatments designed to ease the body and soothe the mind.   ke8aoqqmbl Spa time![/caption]

Bath Abbey

Bath's abbey was built between 1499 and 1616, making it the last medieval church in England. It is a stunning building and well worth a visit. You can go in for a small donation of £2.50 and you can also get Tower tours which take you behind the scenes and allows you stunning views across Bath for £6.00. It has magnificent stained glass windows, pillars of honey-gold stone and is steeped in treasured history.   bath-abby Bath Abbey

Royal Cresent

Bath is famous for its Georgian crescents. The Royal Crescent (finished in 1775) is the most photographed. This row of Grade I listed townhouses is familiar from many period dramas and has wonderful views over Royal Victoria Park.  bath-royal-crescent-83261626 Royal Crescent

Boat Trips

The River Avon flows through the centre of Bath and there are plenty of boat trips to choose from, it is a great way to see the city from a different perspective and its always good to take the weight off your feet for a while!

Prior Park

There are a number of parks in Bath where you can relax and whittle away the hours - for Prior Park you do have to pay £7.00 to enter.  This park has beautiful 18th century landscaped gardens, lots of wildlife, hidden woodlands walks along with some of the best views of Bath, so it's worth a visit!
