Alison Belot is a regular Macs adventurer from Australia who recently went on our Walking Portofino and Cinque Terre trip. She tells us how she got on as a solo traveller and shares some of her holiday highlights.
I‘ve long wanted to hike in the Cinque Terre region and a change of travel plans made this possible. I chose to do the Walking Portofino and the Cinque Terre trip with Macs Adventure and was not disappointed.
As a female travelling on my own, I was a little apprehensive, and although there were generally not many people on the trail in the national park, I felt safe and well-supported the whole time. The location and scenery were stunning, and although the route was not always well-defined, I had no issue with navigation thanks to the Macs app.
The days were long and there were many hills, but they were a fair trade-off for the stunning views! The routes between the five villages were the busiest parts, I much preferred peaceful sections in the national park. I enjoyed the quiet and solitude on some of the sections, it created a great environment for me to immerse myself in the natural environment and as you walked from hilltop to hilltop the views were amazing.
Overall, the accommodations were all well located relative to the tracks and the logistics worked flawlessly. It really was an epic adventure!
