Immerse yourself in the rich landscapes and heritage of a Scottish Highlands adventure. Escape the crowds on exhilarating walks in heather-clad mountain glens, past rushing burns and silent lochs.

You can walk a long-distance trail, such as the famous West Highland Way, best described as Scotland’s finest long-distance walk, or cover more ground with a drive & hike, such as our Highlands and Islands Discovery tour. We also have Slow Adventure tours which although still focused on great walks, allow time for cultural and historical exploration too. The Walking in the Scottish Highlands tour immerses you in incredible Scottish history and you can visit many castles and museums en route. From peace and tranquility during the day to that famously warm Highland welcome when you arrive at your accommodation for the night, the Highlands are the Scotland from your imagination. You can also try a Rail & Hike and admire the Scottish countryside from your train seat. An example is the Highlands & Isle of Skye Rail and Hike which has some of the best railway journeys in the world alongside impressive walks.

Since 2003 Macs Adventure has been helping walkers discover Scotland on foot. We have the local knowledge (our office in based in Glasgow!) to find the experience that will fit your needs. All you have to do it ask our expert team and they can answer any questions you may have.

Dan, our resident wildlife expert, took to the West Highland Way and recorded his whole journey.  This video shows you the full route, from the starting point in Milngavie, through all the points of interest, to the finish in Fort William.  Dan points out some interesting things along the route that you shouldnt miss, but this is not a video laden with spoilers.  Every journey on the West Highland Way is different, dictated by the weather, the people you meet and the chance encounters with wildlife (human and otherwise!) Get a taste of what is in store on the West Highland Way with Dan.

  • Walking in the Great Glen Way

This video was made by Ewan, one of our Great Glen Way experts who embarked on this classic walk himself a few years ago. He shows that this route is very well-waymarked and not too strenuous, so that the majority of fit people can acccomplish it. With lochside walking and magificent views over the Scottish Highlands, this long-distance trail is memorable in many ways. From the exploration of Scotland's turbulent history at Urquhart Castle, to spotting "Nessie", the mythical monster, you are sure to relish this experience.
