Is it for me?This route follows our classic inn-to-inn formula and is a challenging walk but one filled with rewards! Each day you will walk between inns following paths on the GR221 - perfect if you want a bit of a challenge but with comfortable hotel stays at the end of each day.
Classic Routes | If you’re the active, outdoorsy type, who’s interested in taking on the great routes of the world or looking for a challenge, then our Classic Routes are for you. We’re talking the West Highland Way, Tour Du Mont Blanc and the Passau to Vienna Danube Cycle Path, to name but a few!

Families with Teens
The minimum age for this tour is: 12 Years
This trip is graded as moderate-strenuous, and we recommend that you are experienced walkers to get the most out of it. Most of the walks follow gravel and paved tracks, and you occasionally follow minor roads, with one short section on a busier road between Deia and Soller. The longest day is 17km and the shortest is 8km. There is a fair bit of ascent and descent involved with 910m ascent being the most on one day. We do not recommend this walk for anybody who suffers from vertigo as there are some sections where there are steep drop-offs.
7 nights accommodation in 3* hotels and guesthouses and 1 night in a simple mountain monastery is included in your trip.
The accommodation we normally use is detailed on our website, however, is subject to availability and therefore alternatives of a similar standard may be offered.
You can add extra nights at any point during the tour. We can also arrange additional nights in the cosmopolitan city of Palma, which we recommend for those looking for a fix of great shopping and nightlife.
*Please note that in Soller we do not have any accommodations that offer a twin room setup, so you can only book this tour with a double room option. Please give us a call to discuss potentially booking the tour with twin rooms in all other locations and 2x single rooms in Soller.
Accommodation Location
We will always try and accommodate you at the locations detailed in your itinerary. Occasionally, because of limited availability, there is the option to be accommodated at an alternative location. In the unlikely event that we have to accommodate you elsewhere, we will advise you of this before confirming your booking.
Single Rooms & Solo Walkers
This trip is not available to solo walkers. If you require single rooms within your party we would be happy to accommodate your request. A single supplement is payable.
Meals
7 Breakfasts are included. To keep things flexible, lunches and dinners are not included. You can pick up picnic lunches from local shops or markets or stop off at restaurants en-route. Drinks and evening meals are available either at your accommodation or nearby restaurants.
The GR221 is signposted between Deia and Pollenca, making it fairly easy to follow for those sections. For the section between Esporles and Deia, this is not currently signposted, however, we will provide detailed route notes and maps for the whole route. We recommend that you are comfortable navigating to ensure that you are able to fully enjoy this walk.

You can start this walking tour on any day of your choice between April and June, and September to October. We don’t recommend July or August as it tends to be too hot for walking then. The best months for walking tend to be between April and May, and September through to October when the temperatures are a bit cooler. Mallorca is very popular and the accommodations do fill up quickly so we recommend booking as early as possible.
Time of Year
In our opinion, the best months to travel are May and September, when the temperatures are nice and pleasant for walking. Flowers will also be in full bloom in May.
