Which Alpine Crossing is for you?

If you are looking for a self-guided walk across the Alps, and do not want to miss the comfort of hotels, guest houses and luggage transfer, then you have come to the right place at Macs Adventure. With the help of our German sister company, we have created some of the most spectacular trips, that you don’t want to miss.

In 2019, we were the first operator to offer the E5 as a self guided trip which included overnight stays in hotels and included luggage transfers. Since then, we have been able to expand our range of Alpine crossings making it harder to choose which ones is the best for you. Therefore, we have created a help guide to select the most suitable trip for you.

We have two easy alpine crossings:

Across the Swiss Alps: Klosters to Tirano – This route takes you from Switzerland to Italy across the Alps, the hikes are shorter and there are plenty of opportunities to make the walks tougher or easier. It combines two of the top Swiss long-distance hiking trails, the Via Valtellina and Via Albula, with a memorable train journey on the Bernina Bahn.

Across the Alps: Bavaria to South Tyrol- This route was put together as it follows well-known long-distance hiking trails such as the Lechweg, Ötztaler Urweg and E5 without having to cross high passes and therefore all of your nights are sent in hotels. Experience the highlights of the mountains without the strenuous walking.

Our moderate-strenuous alpine crossings:

Tyrolean Alps: Garmisch – Innsbruck takes you over the Karwendel Mountains and the Stubai Alps to South Tyrol. The hike is a bit more demanding without being high alpine trek and suitable for a walker with a good base level of fitness and is looking for a stunning, quieter route. This walk goes at a slightly slower place allowing for multiple overnights in some of the night stops.

E5 - Extended – the strenuous E5 is made somewhat eased by shorting the hiking days on this relaxed version. You will alternate your overnight stays in the valleys with stays in mountain huts. This tour is ideal for hikers of all abilities as you are can take the walking day at your own pace over shorter distances.

Our strenuous alpine crossings

The E5 - From Oberstdorf to Meran, hike the classic E5 route. This classic inn to inn route is long-distance trekking at its best and is a must for Alpine fans. Hike from mountain pass to mountain pass on this strenuous hike.
